Celebrating 35 years of L&S Wine Merchants tasting
We recently popped to London for a tasting event to celebrate one of our favourite wine merchants Lea and Sandemans 35th anniversary. Award winning and Royaly appointed independent Wine merchants Lea and Sandman have retail stores in London alongside an online shop. We work closely with their local representative Derek Robertson to engage with their independently sourced wines to find the best value, best rated, and their most exceptional wines.
Paul Francis Bryan, host of the Garnet Wine Club, attended the tasting event with Ali Hunt who looks after wines at Norwich favourite The Yard. The event presented some of the best wines of the past year, alongside some newer wines, complete with the wine makers who chatted eloquently about the different processes involved in making their fabulous wines.
One of the highlights from the event was this beautifully structured Chinon from Domaine Bernard Baudry. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc this delicious red from Loire in France is beautifully made, delivering pert, crisp Cabernet Franc fruit to the glass with minimal intervention, aged in cement tanks and sees no wood. There is a good crunch to the black-currant and cherry nuanced fruit and a lovely leafy freshness too. We liked it so much its our current Wine of the Week a much needed addition to the encroaching autumn evenings.
You can now buy this wine to have in the pub or through our off license/website
Alongside the fab Chinon, why not pop in and see what other wines we found at this tasting.
Thanks again to Derek for introducing us to even more great wines.
Until next time….
