It’s a blustery, windy, snowy, wet kind of start to the new year. But new year it is, and we always feel it should be embraced for it’s calm and quiet after the last hectic few months. A time for pottering about, casual catch ups with friends over coffee or a shared bottle of wine. The house may be looking a little dull and tired once the lights and tinsel come down, so freshen up those dark corners with candles and flowers. Spend the long evenings slowly with good simple food and warm cosy drinks. Resolutions shmesolutions… this is the time to just be. We are here for you whether you’re out stretching your legs in the city, or shopping from your sofa. So bring it on ‘26, we’re ready for you!

Our pub in Norwich
Overlooking Norwich Market, The Garnet has been serving the fine city of Norwich since 1861. From the terrace outside, step indoors to our bar area serving local ales, wines and spirits. The creaky wooden floors wind up to various cosy corners steeped in history with the walls hosting a permanent exhibition of Norwich past from historical photographer George Plunkett.
Food is welcomed in from the abundance of delicious Market stalls nearby or Brick Pizza can be delivered straight to your table.

Never should an opportunity to put the world to rights with a good friend over a bottle of wine (and we also have excellent lo/no alcohol ones) be underestimated. We are committed to ensuring our customers can drink well and want to help demystify wine for anyone unsure of which to choose .
Located opposite the bar, you will find our expertly curated wines from white Burgundy to Romanian orange, Organic pet-nat to spicey Cab Franc - all to enjoy by the bottle in the pub, or to take home. Each labelled lovingly with tasting notes to help you choose.
We also host regular wine tasting evenings, run by The Garnet Wine Club. A fun social evening held in the Garnet Stores next door. Taste for yourself and learn about the wines before you buy. Tickets available below.

The Garnet Stores next door to the pub, sprung up from a desire for good quality, long lasting and sustainable homewares and gifts with a keen eye on keeping things as locally sourced as possible . From brushes to aprons, cleaning products to candles. Baking trays, tea pots, wine glasses and gardening equipment… from Norwich honey to Yarmouth smocks!
The Stores is also home to a cafe, serving a good range of coffees, teas, soft drinks and locally made cakes and brownies. Browsing with a cuppa actively encouraged!

This 100% Pinot Noir spends 12 months in oak barrels and comes out a delightfully fresh and beautifully balanced wine.
Elegant and fresh with notes of redcurrants and red cherry. A gorgeous light red for January.
