WE LOVE NORWICH! Love Light Festival 2022

With the seasons changing and 2022 looking brighter and brighter, we hosted our first (social, no distancing) event at the Garnet Stores last Thursday in connection with the Norfolk Love Light festival. With Djs, drinks and discounts it was an incredible feeling to finally have the opportunity to toast the future…

The Love Light Norwich Festival came at the same time as Storm Eunice… but for two nights, the City was ablaze with light and people and it was the perfect celebration of warmth and positivity. Cyclists decorated their bikes for the Glow Ride, there was a procession of jellyfish dancers and even a giant neon lobster. Businesses were encouraged to light up their windows and we we were no exception. Honouring poet, Piers Harrison-Reid, we re-created an idea originated by our friends at Grosvenor Fish Bar in the Norwich Lanes years ago , and wrote the words of his poem "What is a Norwich?” for passers by to read..

Above: Piers, reading the words ‘What Is A Norwich’ filmed in our George Plunkett Room a few years ago as part of City of Stories.

Below: Sam, our amazing manager, painstakingly writing ‘What is a Norwich’ Poem (backwards so it’s the right way round for passers-by!) which was paired with origami lit-up heart maps of Norwich.

The Garnet Pub and Stores sits at the heart of Norwich and we feel incredibly proud to be a part of our community.

Norwich, it’s an honour to know you.

Thank you to all who came and enjoyed the night with us and to all the organisers of Love Light Norwich for putting on such a magical event.
